It took me over 12 months (and at least 25 different barbers) after moving to Florida to finally find someone who gets it right every single time. Once I found Jesse, I stopped looking. I won’t go to another barber in Florida, or anywhere else. I even spent a month in California recently and, despite getting weekly cuts, I waited until I got back just so Jesse could do it. That should tell you everything. Not only is his work top-tier, but he’s also great to talk to, has the best attitude, and handles my kids (who never sit still) with more patience than anyone I’ve seen. His attention to detail and genuine care for making sure you leave happy don’t go unnoticed. If you’re in the Lakewood Ranch area, go see Jesse at Modern Gents in Main Street, you’ll never want another barber again.

UPDATE: changing to 5 stars. Modern Gents reached out to me right away on their own, offered to make corrections, and the barber Edvin was fantastic! Corrections were made, and we received excellent customer service. For future and to be fair, I think it is important on the customers’ part (that includes me!) to research if a particular barber or stylist does a certain style of cut, The previous hair professional is really good, but the style of cut my son wanted was not something she necessarily specializes in and that is okay! Thank you to Modern Gents and staff for making this right and we are so appreciative of your effort! I just took my son today to the shop and he has been there many times before, I am absolutely disappointed based on the level of haircutting ability that he received today from a master barber. She also advised to me that I should book with someone else next time because she cannot do the taper fade because part of it has a skin fade to it, which, if that was the case, I would’ve liked to know that before she cut his hair and I would think a master barber should know how to do that technique. Regardless, the haircut does not look good and I left paying $60.88 with tip for a haircut that he does not even like. Extremely disappointed. And now he is unhappy with his hair.

She listened carefully and helped us make the perfect choice, even with three barbershops to choose from. I really wanted to recognize her amazing efforts—being a receptionist and manager isn’t easy, but she handled everything with professionalism and genuine care.
